DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:  Last week the bulk of business took place on Thursday 
with Northern dressed deals showing a range of $332 to $345, mostly $332 to 
$335, $4 to $7 higher than last week's weighted averages. Southern live 
business was marked at $208 to $212, mostly $208 to $210, $4 to $6 higher 
than last week's weighted averages. According to Thursday's Daily Direct 
Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase Summary reports the weekly accumulated 
weighted averages were recorded as: KS $209.75($204.00); NE $337.24($328.07); 
TX $208.96($204.00); IA $334.32 ($327.57); CO not available due to 
confidentiality. (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in 
parentheses). 

The Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date 
trade volume totals as: KS 8,774; NE 21,460; TX 7,542, IA 16,152; CO NA due 
to confidentiality. Friday's slaughter totaled 89,000 head, 7,000 below the 
prior week, and 22,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's kill was estimated at 
10,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 576,000 head, 12,000 more the 
previous week, but down 42,000 from 2024. The weekly average for boxed beef 
cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $333.80(-2.99), select $315.48(-2.70), 
with an average choice select spread of $18.32(-0.29), and a total load count 
including cuts, trimmings, and grinds of 606(+01), (Changes from the prior 
week are listed in parentheses).

For the week ending April 12, 2025, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the 
U.S. totaled 52,303, 90.71% of the previous week and 95.78% of the 4-week 
average. 

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It looks to be another typical Monday morning with both 
buyers and sellers busy taking inventory. Bids and asking prices are yet to 
be established. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until much 
later in the week. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with light box 
movement.
